Any application, including affidavits and vakalatnamas, that an advocate on record files for a client can be filed with the Supreme Court. A clerk registered with the Supreme Court is to assist with all areas of the law and procedural aspects of a case. A record-keeping advocate is accountable for handling a case properly. The Supreme Court of India has granted an advocate on record the right to practice anywhere in any court in the country; however, to practice as an AOR in the Supreme Court, a lawyer must meet additional requirements as stated by the Supreme Court. An advocate's position on file is determined by their background and expertise.
The Supreme Court of India must handle a wide range of issues that come before it because it is the country's highest court of appeals and court of last resort.
