Course Description

The Course broadly includes a discussion on The Indian Evidence Act, originally passed in India by the Imperial Legislative Council in 1872, during the British Raj, and contains a set of rules and allied issues governing the admissibility of evidence in the Indian courts of law.
The Indian Evidence Act, identified as Act no. 1 of 1872, and called the Indian Evidence Act, 1872, has eleven chapters and 167 sections and came into force on 1 September 1872. At that time, India was a part of the British Empire. Over more than 125 years since its enactment, the Indian Evidence Act has retained its original form except for certain amendments from time to time.

  • Civil Lawyer: Law of evidence is playing a vital role. A civil lawyer will handle the case between the plaintiff and the defendant. He/she will be liable to represent their client and present their evidence in front of the court. If Plaintiff comes to court and asks for Justice then he/she shall give evidence. If cannot able to produce evidence, then he/she lost his/her case. On the other hand, if Plaintiff produced evidence against the defendant then the defendant shall also produce his/her evidence against the plaintiff. 
  • Criminal Lawyer: Law of evidence plays the most important role in a criminal case as well as a civil case. A criminal lawyer will handle the criminal case. If one is innocent, then on behalf of a client, a criminal lawyer will produce the evidence which proves his/her innocence. If anyone frames charge-sheet against anyone, the framer shall produce evidence. If someone takes a plea of innocent then he/she shall produce evidence of innocence.
